Chia Chi Kuan,
When asked about his experience, Chia Chi Kuan said “Cancer was the best present I’ve ever received in life.” Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 26 in 2013, he battled against depression, feared death and worried for his family and partner.
“I then realised that instead of fighting cancer, I should accept it,” Chi Kuan said. “Cancer is a part of me – it may have started in my body, but it can also end in my body.” He stopped seeing things as just ‘good or bad’, and focused on changing his perception as well as overcoming challenges.
“Everything is temporary and things happen for a reason. Cancer changed my perception of life.”
