National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public. Established in 1966, we were founded by Malaysia’s first oncologist, the late Dato’ Dr S.K. Dharmalingam. The Society is financed entirely by contributions and donations from the public.
As the only charitable organisation providing holistic cancer-related services to cancer patients, caregivers, and the public, we support them through our five centres: the Cancer and Health Screening Clinic, Nuclear Medicine Centre, Resource and Wellness Centre, Quit Smoking Clinic, and the Homes of Hope (for Adults and Children).
We also have support groups for cancer survivors, and provide cancer information services to assist the general public through our toll-free helpline, 1-800-88-1000.
To expand our support and service programmes, NCSM engaged Salesworks Sdn Bhd (formerly APPCO Sdn Bhd) in September 2018, Omniraise Sdn Bhd in May 2020, The Raise Group Sdn Bhd in October 2023, and OneSixty Asia Sdn Bhd in November 2024 to raise funds through face-to-face and telefundraising models. These interactions with prospective donors highlight the diverse activities NCSM undertakes daily to assist underprivileged communities, regardless of race or religion. Additionally, SG Support Services Sdn Bhd, a business process outsourcing (BPO) partner, supports the administrative aspects of the programme, ensuring efficient management of donor-related processes.
DDDP directly and immediately supports NCSM activities of educating vital information about cancer and its prevention to the public, support cancer patients and their caregivers in their recovery journey and provide underprivileged communities with cancer screening and health awareness education. Your donation via this programme is extremely important because it offers immediate resources that are directed to current needs at NCSM.
The NCSM DDDP aims to achieve:
• A sustainable long term contribution from loyal donors, generating reliable support for NCSM to continue its noble work
• To raise awareness of NCSM’s mission and projects
• To build a meaningful, long term relationship between donors and NCSM
DDDP uses direct marketing effort to encourage donations, targeting individuals in corporate offices, SMEs as well as setting up various exhibition booths in high traffic areas. Members of the public who want to contribute in our fight against cancer can do so by signing the donor form, stipulate their account details and choose a fixed denomination monthly via credit card or bank account deductions. Telefundraising is a method of fundraising via phone calls made to NCSM’s potential donors.
Worldwide, DDDP is the most reliable method for donors to donate consistently and affordably.
Positive response and support from the public encourages us to do more. Cancer is an enormous global health burden, touching every region and socioeconomic level. Cancer cases are on the rise every year. As such, an increase of our efforts is annually demanded, and that calls for more funding needed. Therefore, to cater to this need, our DDDP activity has expanded to cover residential areas, street, events, and shopping malls as well as paying a visit to your workplace.

How can we help you?
DDDP is a donation programme specially designed to encourage public members to support NCSM’s cancer care and support services by making donations on a monthly, 6-monthly or yearly basis. We require sustainable funding to ensure that our services offered to the community will run smoothly and effectively. As NCSM is a non-profit organisation that does not receive any fixed grants or direct funding from the Government, we need regular donations to continue providing education, care and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public.
The face to face approach through DDDP allows the members of the public to communicate to NCSM in a convenient and friendly manner in order for them to find out more about NCSM’s initiatives. This approach makes it easier for those who do not have the opportunity to contribute to NCSM through other channels such as visiting our office, donating online through our website or calling us to express their pledge.
Our reasons are as below:
- The DDDP has been a very successful channel and fundraising source for many charities for more than a decade. Professional fundraising such as the DDDP is an investment in NCSM’s future income; with sufficient experience and the right technique, we are able to predict the amount of fund that we need to raise to support our stakeholders in the future.
- NCSM’s mission is to reduce the incidence of cancer by raising public awareness on prevention, screening and early detection through education and to provide the best possible care and support for people affected by cancer. Engaging directly with people in dialogue around cancer awareness and prevention issues and understanding better is what makes Malaysians want to support cancer causes.
- It requires a huge cost to conduct fundraising activities through various channels; be it Direct Mail, Telefundraising or DDDP. Indeed, volunteer fundraising do costs money too due to the management and coordination of volunteers involved. It is important to gain return on investments as high as possible in order to raise maximum resources to serve our beneficiaries. Through careful considerations, we believe DDDP is the most cost-effective fundraising initiative that is worthwhile to do, and is an important part of supporting our cancer action programmes.
DDDP is promoted at various places including events, streets, shopping malls, residential areas, workplaces and at permitted locations throughout Klang Valley and other states in Malaysia.
There are six parties involved: NCSM and our Programme Partners – Salesworks Sdn Bhd, Omniraise Sdn Bhd, The Raise Group Sdn Bhd, OneSixty Asia Sdn Bhd, and SG Support Services Sdn Bhd. We have engaged the services of Salesworks Sdn Bhd, Omniraise Sdn Bhd, The Raise Group Sdn Bhd, and OneSixty Asia Sdn Bhd, all reputable international marketing companies. These companies promote the programme by deploying small teams of trained fundraisers, known as NCSM Brand Ambassadors, to advocate for the DDDP at popular venues in the Klang Valley and other states in Malaysia. SG Support Services Sdn Bhd, a business process outsourcing (BPO) partner, manages the programme’s administrative work.
2 methods: via Credit Card (CC) or Debit Card (DC).
Note: NCSM Brand Ambassadors are not authorised to accept cash donations. Donation method via cheque is only accepted when the donors prefer not to donate through their CC or DC.
Monthly donations start at RM50 per month (less than RM1.70 per day), RM75 and RM100, and this amount will go a long way towards our programmes to support and benefit the poor, needy and low-income families. 6-monthly donations are set at RM300, RM450 and RM600, and deductions are made once every 6 months. Annual donations are set at RM600, RM900 and RM1,200 per year.
Note: NCSM Brand Ambassadors are not allowed to accept cash donations.
As NCSM is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, we are dependent on voluntary contributions from the kind-hearted individuals like you to provide care and support to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers throughout their cancer journey and cancer education to the public. Consistent funding enables us to plan our charity work and continue our services for Malaysian communities. Monthly giving provides a steady and cost-effective source of income to NCSM. Your generosity and monthly, 6-monthly or yearly donations will help NCSM carry out long-term programmes aimed at supporting people affected by cancer and empower our community to fight against cancer.
Because monthly, 6-monthly and yearly donations are processed automatically, this helps NCSM reduce our administrative costs which allows us to spend more on our cancer care and support programmes.
The first deduction will be made within 7 to 10 working days upon your signing of the Direct Debit/ Autodebit/ Autopay Authorisation in the Ongoing Pledge Donor Form. Subsequently, your account will be automatically debited in accordance with the frequency that you have selected (every month, every 6 months or every year). You can refer to your card/bank statement for confirmation of deductions made.
NCSM adheres to a strict policy regarding donor privacy. We and our Programme Partners will keep all of your personal information in this DDDP confidential and the data will not be released to any third party. Except for administrative, processing your donation and/or summary reporting purposes, no personal information, in its paper or electronic format, will be disclosed, used, modified, or reproduced to any other person or organisation, except in connection with the purposes and to the persons as set out in our Privacy Notice, which is available on our website.
As much as we would like to, we are unable to bear the considerable cost of setting up and training a team large enough to manage and carry out the DDDP. That is why we partner with market leaders such as Salesworks Sdn Bhd, Omniraise Sdn Bhd, The Raise Group Sdn Bhd, and OneSixty Asia Sdn Bhd, who specialise in face-to-face fundraising. These partnerships allow NCSM to save costs and channel more of your valuable donations directly to our cancer care and support services.
All NCSM Brand Ambassadors are professionals with specialised skills who are committed to long-term working relationships. They undergo intensive training conducted by NCSM, Salesworks, Omniraise, The Raise Group, and OneSixty Asia before beginning their work in the field.
In contrast, volunteers are typically trained and assigned to specific tasks or projects within a short time frame. As a result, the skillsets and time commitment offered by volunteers differ significantly from those required for fundraising.
Yes, 100% of your donation is received by NCSM. Each year, NCSM allocates a fundraising budget for various activities. If your support is generated through the efforts of Salesworks, Omniraise, The Raise Group or OneSixty Asia, the fees for their services are paid from this pre-allocated budget.
Does Salesworks, Omniraise, The Raise Group and OneSixty Asia receive a commission from my donation?
No, Salesworks, Omniraise, The Raise Group, and OneSixty Asia do not. These companies receive a fee from NCSM based on a pre-allocated fundraising budget.
As a non-profit organisation, NCSM relies heavily on donations from the public to fund our programmes and activities for the benefit of people in Malaysia. Public support and contributions are crucial in sustaining our efforts.
NCSM spends approximately RM10 million annually on education, prevention, advocacy, and patient services to reduce the incidence of cancer in Malaysia. Our programmes and activities have positively impacted thousands of cancer patients, survivors, and members of the public. Being entirely dependent on voluntary contributions, we are constantly in need of funds to continue our work in fighting cancer.
Your tax-deductible donations make a significant difference, enabling us to sustain and expand our programmes for the public. With your support, we:
- Provide highly subsidised screenings for the public and free screenings for the underprivileged.
- Offer nuclear imaging services at highly subsidised rates.
- Provide a ‘home away from home’ for underprivileged children and adult cancer patients, along with their caregivers, who come from outside Kuala Lumpur.
- Reach out to underprivileged communities to educate them on cancer prevention and early detection.
- Provide support and cancer information to patients, survivors, caregivers, and the general public.
